Stepping Back For More Training! :) Exciting!

hello everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your 3 day weekend!?! It is a great moment to in time, as an essential worker, to get some rest and re-group to accomplish things that I could not get a chance to take care of during the week. The stress of acquiring and maintaining PPE was a hardship in the beginning of the global pandemic.  However, my resourcefulness served me well in the initial acquisition process for the shop. I have held the fort down managing multiple projects in many aspects for the past six months.  It felt like a start-up company in the making.  A lot of hard work was required to help grow to next level growth. My goal has been to become a site safety manager since I was first approached about it in Aug 2019.  I have been helped by my current shop CEO to achieve that next level.  It helps me build my job security and adds more skills to my tool box.  It also helps the shop so it is mutually beneficial.  The goal is to serve as a sentinel and ke

Update- Working In Construction Amongst The Covid19 Pandemic

hello everyone, I am continuing my work, with my essential worker crews, during this ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in various locations throughout NYC.  We have gotten into a decent stride and have a work flow going.  This is despite the fact that there are further PPE requirements on top of the regular PPE needs.  This is also despite the fact that it is much harder to work with a mask on vs nothing.  I am proud to be at the helm, although exhausting, of making sure our crews are feeling safe.  These are those monumental moments where your leadership skills are either considered stellar or not even close- it is one or the other. It is certain that, during these times, you find out who people truly are during this moment in time. We find out who is strong vs weak, who is a leader vs a follower, who is selfless vs selfish, honest vs a scam artist, etc.  You truly get to see who is who during these moments in time.  I oftentimes feel like a lot of people choose to depend on me.  It is go

hello everyone! I hope people continue to exercise caution, common sense, and good hygiene during this moment in time.  It is vital so we can all get past this crisis and have life go back to normal.  If you can work from home, now is the time to seize that opportunity and make the best of a tough situation. This is the time in our lives where we try to read books we have not read, watch movies we have not taken time to watch, pursue hobbies we never took time to chase, and smash some goals.  So far we have had no interruptions with our power or internet.  I am grateful for those creature comforts while in isolation.  I try to not watch the news all day long.  The constant updates of bad news is not healthy to be immersed in 24/7 or longer than the time needed to review the updates.  It is an odd time in life where you need to be aware yet you also need to protect yourself from diving into depths of paranoia due to the tough time at hand. While in NYC, we feel like we are being h

Current Status of NYC During The Covid-19 Pandemic

hello everyone! First I wish everyone having to go out to work the absolute best and to be safe! As you have heard in the news, we have been dealing with this Covid-19 ongoing pandemic, in Manhattan and the rest of NYC.  It indeed feels like we are in the most dangerous part of the U.S.A. at the current moment.  I am aware that you all have been dealing with it globally as well.  I have had international pals on Facebook tell me that they are all home based for the time being.  For the past few weeks, I have been working solo person out of my field office.  My feeling is if my crew is in the field, I need to be there as well.  I have been lucky to have some good leaders in the field working to get our jobs done.  Most recently, an event happened on the job that caused fear and panic to settle in. When you are working on a project with a large group of people working within a variety of capacities, it is very difficult to withhold the flow of information.  Especially when you with

New Year's Day- Past Year 2019 Reflection

Image
HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone! I hope and wish that everyone had a SAFE NYE???!! Drunk or sober, it was definitely not the night to be out on the roads last night for any reason. When I worked with the tools, we often referred to NYE as "amateur night".  The rest of the year is reserved for professional drinkers (joke). I kept to myself and watched the festivities on tv last night.  Being a hermit has been my theme for 2019.  I need to force myself to venture out and stop staying in the house. #2020 NEEDS to be better than the last!!👌👌 Upon reflection, I describe the year #2019 as, " going in like a lion and going out like a lamb ".🤔 This has indeed been the monumental year where I no longer accept, " half ass ", " minimal effort ", and " useless lip service " 🤷‍♀️🙏. I had finally put myself to a place where it is " okay " to walk from things that only serve as pain while managing to make one feel less than deserving. So

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy Your Weekend!

hello everyone, I am sharing some Thanksgiving humor and also wishing a great Thanksgiving weekend to all who celebrate.  However you occupy your time this weekend, be sure to laugh, love, and enjoy the moment.  Spend the time as you wish and go with what moves you.  Even if it is non-conventional or it requires the most minimum effort.  If you were a family member who did all of the cooking and cleaning in the past, take a vacation from it and don't feel guilty about the change.  People will either understand or they don't.  The people who don't understand are so accustomed to having the same people, year after year, continue doing everything for them while they sit idle.   I am proposing a grass roots movement for women to create a 👊"HOLIDAY STRIKE"!!👊 hahahahaha!!! 😝 The objective should be to enjoy a simple meal and to re-charge your batteries in order to rediscover peace, light, and love.  I have learned that if things don't offer you pe
